Hello everybody, how did you celebrate Valentine's day?

Interesting. For me, american English is better to understand… it seems to me that Americans also speak more slowly than English people do - their accent is sometimes indecipherable…

Hi
Really good idea. I´m home with my son a I didn´t use English very long time. I spoke qiute well during studying in high school and at university, but if you don´t speak you forget a lot ![]()
I agree with @zzuza that american English is easier to understand. I visited my brother in the USA. He was there as an exchande student a I spent there 1 month. I was a beginner, but I understood well ![]()

Hi girls, I have big request. Can you check my review and if there are mistakes can you write me which and explain me why. A am not sure about tenses mainly. Thanks very much
We have been here for lunch. This is a real french cuisine, independent restaurant, food is from the scratch, full of butter, cream and goose fat. The food was the best what I ever have had in my life.. The creme brulee was better than what I had in Paris not so much sweet what I have liked and there was big quantity of a real vanilla. All food was excellent but butter glazed carrots and wild mushroom fricassee have amazed me. The Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was really french thanks to music with Edith Piaf. Definitively we are going to come again. Pleese continue to keep this standart
And girls, what do you think about opinion, that english tenses are needed to study in one moment without long breaks?

I made the changes in the quoted text.
We were - at a specific time in past, even though you do not state the time of action explicitly, you mean a specific visit.
the best I have ever had in my life - not specific, thus present perfect.
I am sorry but I do not understand your question about tenses…?

@Meluzinecka thank you. My question about tenses has origin here http://www.english-online.cz/vyklady2.php?…

@merde This depends on the technique and didactic theory the teacher uses. I personally teach tenses differently. At the beginning, we compare them in pairs, then small groups (present simple+cont., present simple+cont.+past simple, past simple+cont., past simple+pres perfect and so on) and later we move on to actually comparing all of them, however, from my personal experience I must say that learners are often appalled by the tenses, find them too difficult and often demotivating, which is the reason why I teach them as I have said. I do not have any problems with it, my clients enjoy it and they do not have problems with them.
There is this in the article: „zkušenost mi říká, že každý trochu inteligentní člověk tvorbu jednotlivých časů, stejně jako to, v jakých situacích se používají, pochopí okamžitě. Proto je na místě (s výjimkou úplných úplných začátečníků) hned první vyučovací hodinu vysvětlit základních sedm časů“ I am sorry but I have been teaching for 6 years now, I have attended multiple seminars for teachers and studied all the different techniques at university and I believe that the statement is a complete bullshit. I have taught different age groups, tutored children from primary and secondary schools and this just cannot work. The basic knowledge children have from primary or secondary school does not support this in any way and it would only intimidate students and make them want to quit learning ![]()
This is, of course, only my conviction and opinion, however, the same goes for the article and its author, he or she probably has this opinion that any JUST NOT TRUE…
