Septoplasty Eye Pain
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated septum, which can improve airflow through the nasal passages and help with breathing.
Post-septoplasty, patients may experience mild to moderate discomfort, often described as similar to a sinus infection, with pain and pressure around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks.
This discomfort typically fades within a few days.
One complication that can occur after septoplasty is visual loss due to retinal artery spasm, as reported in a case study where a patient experienced total loss of vision in the right eye after the procedure.
This is a rare complication, but it highlights the importance of monitoring for any unusual symptoms post-surgery.
Patients may also experience watery eyes or increased sensitivity to light due to swelling and inflammation in the nasal area, which can affect the tear ducts and lead to temporary issues.
These symptoms usually resolve as the healing process progresses.
It is crucial to follow postoperative care instructions provided by your surgeon, including avoiding strenuous activities and using cold compresses to reduce swelling and pain.
If you experience severe pain, persistent vision issues, or other concerning symptoms, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately.
